I can't believe I haven't posted anything here since May!
2015 was somewhat crazy.  Had some things happen at work
that kept me super busy from June on and then my mom
had open heart surgery in the fall so my time to
draw anything lately has been limited.  :C
I'm hoping 2016 will get into a better schedule and I will have
more art, drawing, etc. time.  I've started a daily doodle
in the Year of the Doodle book
that I've actually been using ever day so far.
I've doodled a bit here and there but nothing that's really worth sharing.  :/
If you want to see what I've been up to, feel free to check
out my blog and facebook.  I tend to keep them
better updated lately.

Anyway, Thank you again for following my silly little art
and hopefully I'll have some more stuff to share with you all again soon!

I can't believe May is already about half way over!  It will
be Christmas again before I know it! :S

I apologize also for the lack of posts.
I haven't had time to draw much of anything in months.  :C
I've also developed a huge
love for Instagram and have been trying to get back
into using my planner more so that I can stay on top of
everything better so a lot of my time has been going into that lately.
I usually re-post those pictures to my blog
and Facebook if you'd like to see them but I like to keep this
spot for just handmade / art / crafty sorts of things.

I really appreciate everyone that has stopped by and left
comments and liked my pictures.  I will eventually
get caught back up on my backlog of comments, just
haven't had much time to sift through them so far.  I wanted
to make a post here to say that I'm still around, just very rarely at the moment.
Hopefully as the year goes on I will figure out how to get more time
in for my drawing.  My personal life is a bit...hectic lately so my art
is getting pushed aside for it, which has been really nice in a way
but I also really miss it.  :S

Anyway, Thank you again for following my silly little art
and hopefully I'll have some more stuff to share with you all again soon!

**Additionally, I had a note about someone wanting to use my art for

an app.  However the person has since deleted their account and

after going to the link they provided, it seems there were several other

people who were also getting this message.  I just wanted to

say that if you are legitimately wanting to get rights to a picture

or have any questions about using it in something or whatever,

please contact me on my facebook or via my email which can be found

on my blog.  Also, please note that any items I've posted here

may not be used without permission unless I have given you a written

permission to do so.  If you have any questions about anything I have allowed

for personal use or otherwise, please feel free to ask.  :)

Sorry I've been MIA for the past few weeks.  Work and life in general
has just been crazy lately.  And it doesn't look like that will be about
to change anytime soon, especially since we made the kickstarter
goal for the third, Jack the Kitten is Very Sleepy book.  So much
to do!  Anyhoo, I thought I'd stop in here for a bit and share some
older things with you guys, since I haven't created anything much
in weeks.  I seem to be on a kick of wanting to just work on
typography type of stuff and lettering.  I'm not sure why exactly. :P

I also haven't done a feature in at least a year.   I just ran across
this fabulous artists' work today and thought it was beautiful.
I'm not much of a realist painter or a painter in general actually,
but this persons work is amazing.  You should definitely check
out the rest of their gallery.

Below are just a few pieces I liked the most.

There's only a little over a week left for The Game Is On Kickstarter!
Be sure to check it out now before it's too late!  And thank you for
anyone that has already funded or plans to fund shortly or who
has helped spread the word on the project.  You guys rock! :D

Busy Busy Busy!  :P
I'm currently working on a couple of projects still, one of which will hopefully
be completed around the middle of this month.  :D  So hopefully I'll have
some fun, cool new things to share soon!  Thanks for stopping by! :D

UPDATE!

One of the projects I've been working on is about to launch in the next
week or so.  It's a set of Sherlock Holmes playing cards, one set of which
(the ones I've illustrated) will feature Sherlock and John as an Otter
and Hedgehog and some of the other characters as various other
critters as well.  If you're interested in checking it out, more information
is at the link below.

Trying to get back into the swing of drawing regularly.  Working on a couple
of projects that I'm super behind on, but hopefully will have them
completed soon and may even get to share them with you once they're done.  ;)

In the meantime, decided to try out a new Journal header and whatnot.

*phew*  Caught back up on my backlog of comments!
Now to try to catch back up on my news feed!  With
over 13,000, it shouldn't take but a couple of months
                            to do that, right?  LoL!

Finally, a new post for 2014! :D  Thought I'd throw in
another journal header for awhile until I can create some new
ones.   Still having a hard time getting inspired and finding
time in general to nourish the little bit of inspiration I do
have, but hopefully will find some time soon. In the meantime,
stay warm, creative and amazingly awesome, as always. :)

HAPPY 2014!

Sorry I've been MIA for awhile.  The holidays always seem to do that to me.  And 2013 was such a looooong, crazy, depressing year, I sort of enjoyed letting go of everything for awhile and just trying to enjoy what mattered the absolute most in my life.

And while that means I feel better conscience wise, I'm sorely lacking art wise.  At least on good art to share.  I do have tons of doodles so I may be able to share some of those soon.  However, in the meantime I'll just continue to lurk in the shadows, enjoying all the beautiful artwork in my news feed.  :)

On a bit of a hiatus at the moment.  Life is just too crazy to get much drawing time in, much less take the time to share what I actually do get to create, or to catch up on comments, etc. here that I've gotten behind in.  :S  Hopefully will be able to post regularly again soon.  :)

This week's theme: Sherlock Holmes / Realistic art
Just because.  <3  As there are two versions I currently love the most, I've decided to include features based on both.  :)  Hope you enjoy!

I thought I would devote this current feature to something I've never done but find very
fascinating and beautiful.  Paper quilling.  For those unfamiliar with this, it's merely taking
thin strips of paper and rolling it tightly and then combining several of those into some sort
of picture or design.  Check out the amazing creations below to see just how it's done.

I have a bit of a question this week.  About backing up your work on your computer.  I've
been wanting to purchase an external hard drive to back up my work onto, since my
computer just can't handle too much and I want to have constant access to some items,
but I wasn't sure where to start.   And on top of that, I've read that it's best not to trust
those completely as they can obviously lose your work as well, which would mean I'd still
have to purchase expensive dvd's to backup my work onto.

I was wondering what some of you all do to back up your work?  Is this the norm, or are
there other ways entirely to do this that I'm not aware of?  My computer is a few years old,
but it seems to have trouble writing onto the 4gb dvd's sometimes, which is what prompted
all of this in the first place.  I'm not sure if it's the dvd drive or if my computer just has too
much on it to work properly.  I haven't been able to have it serviced or anything so I'm
not sure what the problem is.  Would this possibly be a virus issue?

I've tried researching the information and haven't been able to get any great answers, so
I thought I would ask here, to see what ideas people have about backing up data and
if they have any idea or tips of what might help back up my computer or what might be
the problem.

So far I've been backing up everything to dvd's, but they seem to grow constantly since
I can only get the 4gb ones and they can only hold so much data.  :/

Any help or tips or ideas would be extremely appreciated.  Just knowing what other people
do would help.

*UPDATE:  I'm not sure if anyone cares about an update, but I will share it anyway.  ;)

This weekend I went ahead and bought a 1 TB Toshiba hard drive.  So far it seems to work
great.  I guess we'll see in time.  I have already backed up everything on it to DVD's
anyway, so if I lose it, I won't be too upset.  I feel better having the extra back up though.
And my computer has so much more space now.  Everything runs a little bit faster.  ;)

However, the reason for my update is to share my experience with what happened next.
Even after I cleared my computer of more space, I still couldn't write to my blank dvd's,
which has worked in the past.  But it's been doing so hit and miss lately, sometimes working
and sometimes not at all.  And I can write to cd's, but apparently that uses another laser,
so it wouldn't affect the dvd drive anyway?  But all weekend it wouldn't save dvd's at all.  I even
tried deleting my upper and lower filters as it said online that that might help, but it only
created a bigger problem.  Thankfully I was able to fix it and not have an entire mental
breakdown.

However, after doing a bit more research and being able to get a hold of some different
brand of blank dvd's, I do believe that is part, or all, of the issue.  I've been using Memorex,
which is apparently made by Ritek, which has been causing problems for some people.
They are the brand I've been using for ages and I can't figure out why they suddenly won't
work.  For whatever reason, I never suspected the brand of dvd to be an issue.  I've just
tried writing to Maxell dvd's and they worked so far.  (I have no idea if they're made by Ritek.)
I do know that the brand I was using before had a speed up to 8x along with four smaller ones
and these new dvd's only have 4x and 3x.  I'm not sure if that would create such an issue
or not.  The error message kept saying my dvd was either going too fast or too slow, which
makes me think it might.

Either way, I thought I would share this here in case other people have a similar issue.  It was
the entire reason I posted this to begin with and I feel so much better having some sort of
answer or part of the issue solved, at least for now.  It's funny how something so simple
created such a big mess.  But now I have extra back up and have hope that I can write
to dvd's again.  :)

Finally, a new set of features!  :D

This weeks set of pieces all seem a bit similar to me.  They all seem to have similar textures
and have similar color palettes.  I can't recall if I've mentioned it before, but my favorite
color is green.  Which you might have noticed dominates most of these pictures. But even
if your favorite color isn't green and you're not a fan of textured pictures, these artists'
galleries are still amazing and worth taking the time to browse.

Sorry it's been so quiet here.  I've had some things going on in my life that have left me uninspired and with very little time to draw lately.  I'll try to catch up on everything and get back into the swing of drawing as much as I can soon.  I do want to say a quick thank you to everyone who has faved or commented on my art or if you just stopped by to take a look around.  I don't always get a chance to say thank you to everyone individually, but I do appreciate each and every one.  <3  And I plan to do a new feature soon, so keep on the look out.  (If you have any art you'd like to recommend, please feel free to do so!)  :)
I just saw this fav.me/d64n20u, which led me to here: appleinsider.com/articles/13/0…

This troubles me.  Or irritates me.  I'm not really sure.  I guess I pretty much just don't like it.  :/  Just an FYI for anyone that hasn't seen this yet.

About time for a new, upbeat journal with some fresh features.  :)  This week's theme?  Birds.
Not only are they out for the spring weather, but they seem to be popping up on Deviantart as
well.  Check out these awesome pieces as well as the rest of the artists' galleries.

Today just seems to be one of those lemon days.  Where you find out about things that just leave a sour taste in your mouth and make you realize life is not going to stay as sweet as you'd hoped, or as sweet as you had remembered.  And while I don't want to complain about the little things, since I'm so blessed with so much and so happy and grateful to have each and every bit that I do, I still can't seem to shake that bit of sadness I'm left with.  Does that make sense?

It's times like these I just want to draw.  And draw and draw and draw until things feel right again.

In the meantime, until the world rights itself out of this weird lemony shape, it's time to see some darkly beautiful arts.  <3
